At first I thought it was Just Cause 2, but Skyrim and Dungeon Defenders also are running slowly. What's going on? I had no problem running any of these games before.

check temps, uninstall/install up to date drivers for your video card.

How do I check the temps, and do you mean I should uninstall and then reinstall the current drivers for my video card? It's already the most recent one.

Okay, I tried checking the temps with CPUID but they seemed fine, despite the games still running badly.

EDIT: I reinstalled the GPU drivers with the clean install option. It helped a little, but things still are running much worse than before.

So is this definitely my GPU dying, or could it be something else?

After just realizing that I had shut my computer down before I went to watch TV and relax, I decided to try a game again. I don't know what happened, but it seems to work fine now. Just Cause 2 runs smoothly on high settings, Dungeon Defenders is working perfectly, Skyrim seems to be doing well. Odd, but I'm definitely not complaining about that! Hopefully things will stay good.

I had this same problem last week for a couple days, noticed some games started randomly chugging. Went into Nvidia control panel and set power management to maximum for global. So far, so good. Not sure if you're even using Nvidia, but might want to look into that if this happens again. Maybe the adaptive setting is buggy for certain games or something? No idea but I've never been a fan of "adaptive" settings on anything.
