Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth was pretty damn scary. But I played it on Xbox. When I got the PC version I could never get it to stop crashing.

I've found Doom 3 to be scarier than pretty much everything else I've played.

Doom 3 stops being scary after you realise that monsters are going to pop out of the most cliched places. The beginning is scary as all hell (pun intended) with the atmosphere that's built up but after that it's pretty repetitive.

Doom 3 is what happens when a developer who was never known for making a horror game before decided to make one by pulling out "The 20 point list of things you're supposed to put in scary games, aren't you?" and implements them in the most chest slappingly transparent way.

You just want to pat ID on the head dismissively and tell them "Now go (try hard) and make a "post apocalyptic survival game.""

Ooooooh wait.....

Thief games, especially the first.
If the day came when I felt a natural emotion I'd get such a shock I'd probably jump in the ocean.
