Had some computer issues about 2 months ago but I kinda floated along making it work but now it is time for replacements. I'm going to save many parts from my old build but I need the following:

CPU
RAM
Mobo
Case
Hard Drive

I'd really like to keep this under $500. No real requests except that I would prefer to have Intel, and the Hard Drive needs to be around 500Gig. 1TB would be great if it fit into my budget. I'm upgrading from a system with an E6600 running XP (lol) with 2G of RAM, so I'd like to see as much improvement as possible with this build.

Oh, sorry. Just gaming, Internet, stuff like that. I'm a Geology major so in the future I may need to run some science related programs for school but I have not been warned of that thus far so I'm probably safe.

This looks like a good combo:

The case isn't the best but the power supply might be worth keeping. It looks like an Antec Earthwatts 500W. But at this price you easily get another case.

I was hoping to get an i5 and 8 gig of RAM in my pricerange if possible. That build does seem very nice, especially the price. I don't like the case, and I don't need a PSU, though, so I'd have to consider that.

Here's the i5 version of that combo with a better case. It's only a 2500, so note that you can NOT overclock. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.793703
As far as what you want, this is the best I could get:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152185
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231426

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146077
Or any other ~$55 case. Please note however, this must be ordered by the 22nd in order to get $30 off the hard drive.
