**** yes. Games can be so amazing when you have an entire modding community behind them. Look at the Elder Scrolls. Its incredible what people have done to make Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim look and play beautifully. And the graphics mods for Crysis blow me away.

And some games even get complete overhaul mods that are as good or better than the original game. The white night mod for Amnesia is scarier and more intense than even the original game.

C, they make games amazing. But they're not necessary. Still they're awesome to have.
