Was looking at this drive. But I would like some more feedback. WD black is another option but from what I remember they haven't been good since the flood

That's a good drive, at a pretty decent price. I'd go for it.

The Barracuda is a good drive *if* you end up with the 1 TB platter version. You won't really know till after you have it in your hands though. As far as WD Blacks they're about the best drives you can buy. They certainly have the best warranty

Yeah, I got the 3TB one just to ensure that I didn't get the 0.67 platter ones because I definitely needed more than 1TB. It wasn't really all that much more, but I'm pretty sure it was on sale when I got it.

Ya I don't feel like playing the loto on this. How are the WD drives? are they loud?

This the right WD black model?

Hmmm... I thought 2tb drives were reliable (as any other size) now.
Was I mistaken?

nothing to do with size. It's the construction of the drive. the 667GB platters are older and slower tech and the fact there's more of them means more chance for failure. As for the WD drive, you linked the 3GB but otherwise yes it's right. Couldn't really say on noise, I value performance vastly more than a few decibels one way or the other.
