I played it a little bit on PS3, but got bored (or overwhelmed?) within an hour and never touched it again. Now I'm wondering if it's worth giving another shot, especially since I have friends who play PC games and are willing to play too.

Only if your friend is helping you relieve stress (if you know what I mean) so you can focus better on Skyrim.
