If I ever decide to buy it, I'd like to have it on Steam instead of Origin.

Highly unlikely.

If I buy SimCity from Amazon, will I have to play it from Origin?

Yes, Origin is a requirement for EA games these days, regardless of where you buy the game.

it has all of the downsides of steam, with few of the benefits..

its not as good as steam, its not as widely used at steam..

in fact, the only reason to use it is because EA requires it..

Everyone complains about Origin. It works for me just like Steam does. You click the game you want to play, the game starts, and then Origin leaves you alone.

Origin is just fine guys.

Yeah, but I've gotten bored of the PS3. Not many good online games for it lately. I was 15th in the world in jet kills and about 1st or 2nd in jet kills per hour.
