For me it's that feeling of breaking the plastic open and smelling a brand new set of RAM sticks.

What's yours?

I dunno about the best, but the worst is closing the latch on your CPU

The feel of opening that awesome case with the amazing box art and smelling the brand new game.

Oh... wait.... D:

But in all seriousness, that feeling when I mod the living hell out of a game in such a way it's totally stable but basically everything has changed from the vanilla experience I've already played.

Speak for yourself. I'd consider those godawful push pin coolers Intel uses the worst. Well that and getting new stitches due to an IO shield.

Nothing in recent years has had the same feel as getting all the DIP switches set up right the first time after installing new hardware, and having no IRQ conflicts on boot.

Oh yeah, that's the best.

Nothing comes close to the sheer joy of knowing you did it right.

Oh god. The tension that was building when I installed mine scared the crap out of me. I thought it was going to damn near snap something.
