I've been on a widescreen 20" for the longest time, used multiple computers on it.

I also have a 23", which I primarily use for my PS3.

I think 23" is as big as I'm willing to go. I like to have a lot of my environment in my visual field.

23-24" with as high pixel density as you can swing.

I used a 24" 1200p monitor for several years, and it was fine. Now I have a 27" 1440p monitor and I feel like it's perfect. Any bigger and I'd have to sit back farther.

I just can't see having the desk real estate for 2-3 27" monitors

The bigger the better, but the pixel density can NOT go under 100 (2560 x 1440 @ 27" is around 110 ppi)
Also I have only 1 monitor now, used to have 2, the other one was a 1200p 24". Got rid of it because I don't like the huge color shift issue of TN panels and I also don't like turning my head way too often. I never miss it at all
I do look forward to getting a cheap and huge 4K IPS monitor from China or Korea though

I enjoy my 30" 2560x1600 monitor quite a bit and find it an ideal size for a single monitor setup. I almost want to cry when working on a tiny 13" laptop screen at work all day. It's like night and day!
