So I was playing FF14 and the screen literally just went black, and the fan speed I have set went to 0% on my card...and then when the game and screen came back on, I was running 14 fps instead of 60.

This is the first time something like this has happened...I'm assuming my PSU is going?

EDIT: I don't overclock at all.

That sounds like the GPU to me considering your screen went black and then you had incredibly low FPS.

The only thing that hasn't been upgraded in this PC is the PSU. I have a stock PSU from Cyberpower PC, that's why I am thinking it's the culprit.

Is your computer fine now? If so, are you sure your graphics drivers didn't just stop functioning for a bit? Because that's exactly what happens when they crash.

Also, if you have a trash PSU, you will want a new one anyway, so it doesn't hurt to buy a new one and see what happens.

It happens every time I play FF14 for 30 minutes or so. My temps are under 80c etc.

That's a driver crash, usually happens when the card is OC'd
If it isn't OC'd, send it back.

Except nothing else is causing this, including a burn test.

sounds like a driver crash too (error given)

although i think my card's dying, as it's persisted through several reformats and regardless of driver version

i haven't experienced psu problems before (X660 powering a 5770) @ 2500k.
The best course of action is to just get the information you need, then get out while you're still alive. - destroy everything on GameFAQs
