I don't see the problem? Only the ones who break the law are the ones crying about this.

Making it a felony is ridiculous.

Maybe we should make the punishment the death penalty. I mean.. who cares? Only the ones who break the law would cry about it.

Yea I can't possibly imagine why anyone on the planet could possibly want an optional tool to block pornography and violent content from being viewed on their computer. Nope, none whatsoever.

Then why can't they just make the filter and allow people to opt in? Because that would be sane, and wouldn't force people to jump through hoops to access their porn, something that is extremely private.

Why is it ridiculous? Conventional copyright infringement can be punished as a felony under certain circumstances. Is that ridiculous too, or is unauthorized streaming always less severe than copyright infringement no matter what the circumstances?

And bear in mind, the felony charges would be for those hosting the streaming services. This wouldn't affect your ability to watch Justin Bieber's Youtube channel. Which incidentally is a sensational and misleading example on that article's part - covers aren't what they mean by "digital performance right in sound recordings."

Is this about porn or music? I'm confused? Most non-amateur porn is illegal because it's ripped from some DVD or site. I don't they're trying to block amateur non-copyright porn. So the porn guys can stop worrying about that unless they really need to see their favorite stars screw.

If this is about music..oh well. Maybe this will force artist to be more in touch with their fan base. They'll gets millions of emails from fans asking can they cover their songs on YouTube or whatever other video hosting site. Maybe music will benefit from it. The artist who get the least messages all probably realize their music sucks.

I don't see what the big deal is, this article doesn't accurately explain what everyone is crying about and no one in this topic is explaining it either. All the arguments are irrelevant without an equal understanding of what the problem is.
Oh, you thought they made this game for you? You clearly bought the wrong game.

This doesn't need to exist. All they're doing is putting a bandage over the wound, instead of stichting it back together.

The IP structure and the whole system needs to change. Instead, as technology has progressed, they've maintained the same system and the same old people.

For that matter, people voted this guy in...how ironic that there has been as much backlash as there has been to the policies he's always said he'd implement.

Anyway, the main problem is that when there is an opportunity to abuse a system for the benefit of oneself, it WILL happen (especially in government). The fact that this could be interpreted broadly is the problem.
