Pretty impressed with the specs. Would it handle next gen games fine?

On lower settings if he wants to maintain a good framerate.

You want at least 45fps

That card seems to be better than my card and on my card I can handle most games fairly decently at high to ultra somewhat fine. My card is a 2GB 6950. Unless those benchmarks are wrong...

Your friend should be able to play pretty much everything for the next 3 years at least. The nice thing about the ASUS series is it has a PCI-E port and with an adapter you can use a desktop GPU for some added graphical power. When I'm home I use a desktop 670 with my laptop and when I'm at work or traveling I use the built in 2 gb 560m. It's a nice option to have.
Gamefaqs game rating system : 10 = Best Game Ever. 8-9. Crushing dissapointment. Below 8 :Total Garbage. This is getting ridiculous. people agreeing so far 105

17" laptops are ridiculous , might as well buy a desktop with that price

Looks pretty powerful, but I still can't justify the cost.

While I agree because I'm more interested in 14" and 15.6" laptops it's really none of our business to dictate what other people like.

Thanks for the feedback.
I know a laptop that big at that price would net him a desktop, but he wanted something portable, decent for gaming, and for school and his old laptop was pretty much on the verge of dying.
