my current pc only supports usb 2.0 without adding a card to it for usb 3.0 and the other device that will be using the files will be my playstation 3 console

so my question is since the hard drive will likely 3.0/2.0 backwards compatible anyways but run in 2.0 speed till my next pc would i see much difference in transfer speeds from those 2 rpm drives ??

7200 rpm 2.5's arent easy to find as it is but are they worth it i think they usually $10 more

Ten dollars for any upgrade is basically always worth it

I've noticed a respectable increase in speed when I made the jump.

With my external drive I have seen transfers of 25 MB/s tops with USB 2.0 and up to 100 MB/s using USB 3.0, is a 5400 rpm drive too.
Mystery is the source of all true science.
