Yes, unfortunately.

I had to attempt to walk my mom who is 2000 miles away through troubleshooting her network and laptop. It was the longest 2 hours of my life.

Yes. I used to fix the computer of anyone in the family or even family friends as a teenager, but now I'm pretty tight about it. I can't control how people behave on their computer, so I won't put any effort into it. Time is money, and to fix the computer of someone who "doesn't get it" is a total waste of time cause they'll just mess it up again.

I'll still help out close family. If nothing else, I can influence how they use their computer and educate them on what not to do. For everyone else? Go see the geek squad.

i know more regarding windows stability and troubleshooting.

But my dad who is a physics graduate and saw those huge lab computers in the 70s, is more familiar with hardware and screws.

He helped me build my pc.
He's also more familiar with physics programms

me, my brother, and my mom all know a good bit about computers, and argue over whos right and wrong every now and again. my dad knows nothing of computers, but knows everything about everything else.

funny enough, i used to be as bad as my dad with computers. now im probably the best with em in this house, but only by a small margin.
i rarely return to topics i post in, if you have a problem with my posts, PM me.

What is a computer programmer consultant? I'm earning my Bachelors in Computer Science this year and I don't know what that is.

You talk exactly like my friends and me. Would your name happen to be Nick?
