Depends on what you're doing. Recording to a drive while loading from it will chew your drive up and spit it out. Recording to your system drive while it's not in use? You'll get some hitches from fragmentation.
It's always best to have a relatively fast secondary drive for consistent performance.

My 2nd drive(s) is an external drive... if that means anything. One of those WD big Tera drives with nothing but movies on it mostly.

Lol, he said "without much performance loss", a 4670 is a HUGE drop from the 770.

I personally would recommend using Bandicam, Fraps recorded file size is HUGE Bandicam is much smaller and the quality is great.
