So...should I get a headset, or headphones/mic?

I'd like some good sound quality, and also I want it to have a large lifespan. I can't really go higher than $80.

These are what I'm looking at right now:

http://www.amazon.com/Creative-EF0060-Aurvana-Live-Headphones/dp/B000ZJZ7OA/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1346741568&sr=1-1&keywords=creative+aurvana+live

OR:

http://www.amazon.com/Skullcandy-SMSLFY205-SLYR-Gaming-Headset/dp/B009RXUNZI

Apparently, both have great sound quality, but I'm skeptical because I haven't had the best experience with gaming headsets before (mic not working after awhile, one ear goes out, etc).

That's what I've been using for over a year now with 0 problems. I take relatively good care of my stuff but I am not perfect and it has survived a few drops and wire pulls. It still works fine. Mic quality is great from what I can tell and sound is 7.1 and works well. Best headset I've ever used. But maybe I just got one that is made of magic and can never break.

Bump.

That one you mentioned looks nice btw.

I also think it's worth mentioned that I have a love for music.

I recommend the Creative Aurvana Live! I got my pair for $60 and they've been great. Generally, you'll get better quality stuff if you get a pair of headphones and then a desktop mic.

These are recommended often. There are also the Samson SR850 headphones, which are very similar.

I use these:

I recommend these often, but they're a bit more expensive than usual:

Get a pair of actual headphones like the CALs and a dealextreme clip-on mic.

Sounds like I'll probably go with the Aura Live!

Do you remember where you bought them? $20 less sounds much better haha.
