How viable is this?
Ideally, a line-in jack, solid sound card, and a line out. Should support VGA, so that I can use the unused VGA jack on my TV for adjusting EQ/accessing the system. Small HDD(120-300gb?) for recording sound. Extremely low power footprint is ideal.
Primarily would be for adjusting volume/EQ of RCA/Component game consoles(have an adapter for standard headphone-size line in), recording direct sound rips, and playing music.
Ideally, line in should have a volume adjust.

I moved my TV/consoles over to my bed, so it doesn't reach my desktop anymore, and my headphones wouldn't reach that far anyway. Figured it could be a fun pet project after getting a Shield.

Just get a PS4 and a Vita, the shield is a utter complete waste of money and just a wasted product that Nvidia thought there was a market for but turns out not so much.

So you're saying I should spend $600(hw)+($50*yrs)+(sw*($20~$50))+(70/32*GB) so that I can play Vita games(or the lack thereof), some PSP games, a small handful of PS1 games, and inferior multiplats, instead of spending $300+(sw*$0.2~5)+(50/64*GB) for a vastly superior experience?

Oh and the Vita TV also to compliment the whole experience.

Ah, right. Another $100 per TV, all to do less than a Shield.
What a great value!
