Anyone know why this RAM won't work with my computer? Is it not compatible?

I have an old PC I use just as a media server, but would like to upgrade the RAM from 1.5 GB to 4 GB. Right now I have 1 GB PC2-5300U-555 and 512 MB PC2-5300U-555. I would like to swap them out for 2x2GB PC2 5300 CL5 240 Pin or essentially this:

Are they not compatible? I have the Lenovo ThinkCentre 9702 A4U model computer. It's old and slow, but I want to speed it up to make servicing the media quicker.

Are they not compatible? When I turn the computer on, it stays real loud and nothing happens. I have used crucial.com to compare and haven't had any luck.

Besides basic compatibility, need to know OS and mobo.

Also, reseat RAM and try one stick at a time.

Have you run Memtest?

Also, check mobo brand list, this brand may not be compatible.

Windows 8 on board that was originally Vista I took from my work office when they were throwing away computers. Brands of RAM that currently work are Samsung 1GB and 512 MB I don't know as it doesn't say.

I think this is what I have as far as motherboard.

I'll try Memtest. I have it on a DVD somewhere.
