Because for the life of me, I can't get SCP to work...says it's a connected device in my device manager, but absolutely nothing is detecting is (including the brand new BT dongle I got, which is no longer appear in my long form device manager pane after installing SCP). Extremely frustrating.

Better DS3 is ALSO not working, and in trying to configure it, none of the buttons work whatsoever. Bear in mind, this is also a brand new controller, authentic DS3.

I remember I had issues getting it to install to. Try installing motion in joy. Then uninstall it and install SCP

You could try using something like CCleaner to make sure you've removed everything from MiJ, then try installing SCP again. My guess is that MiJ sucks and is messing up your installation.

Really, those are the two main ways to get the controller working, with SCP being the preferred one nowadays. I would keep messing with it and see if maybe you've missed something. I remember SCP didn't immediately work for me; I think I had to install something twice, like install then uninstall, restart my computer and install again before it worked. I can't remember anymore. Hopefully it'll sort itself out for you!

To make sure MiJ is uninstalled properly, follow these steps:

Heh, the kicker is that I've never touched MiJ on this machine, knowing all too well how awful it is.

I had trouble with my SCP installation, but after installing SCP, I installed the latest version of XBCD and the 360 controller drivers (even though I'm on Windows 8) and it works all of the times I've tried it afterwards.

Also, the bluetooth dongle is unusable for anything but a DS3 after installing SCP.

Yep, got a brand new, authentic DS3 as well.
