I've been having this problem where my desktop icons get shuffled whenever my PC restarts. I have a couple of dozen of them so it's annoying to have to sift through all of them just to open a certain program. :/

I did some google searching and I noticed others have had the same issue but I still haven't found a sure answer on how to fix it (Windows 7 by the way). And yes I have "auto arrange" unchecked.

So, anyone know what's up?

are you shutting down properly? that usually happens to me if i've added a new program/game and the computer shuts down improperly (bsod, hold the power button, blackout, etc.)
Insert generic offensive/slightly racist/holier than thou/fanboy/douchebag/elitist comment here.

Yeah I always properly shut down, but I use sleep mode more often and that also ends up with the same problem. It's pretty weird.

It sounds like maybe your desktop resolution is dropping to a lower one at some point before reverting back to the normal resolution. I would try reinstalling or updating the display drivers and see if that helps.

That actually makes sense. I was also doing most of my gaming at lower resolutions before I recently upgraded my video card. I should check my games' setting just in case.
