Figured people knew what downsampled would mean by now. I freaking hate that AMD cards can't do it any more with the latest drivers.

I usually hear it being called "supersampling". Usually as a hacky way to do anti aliasing forcing more pixels to be rendered in one pixel of your screen, and letting hardware texture filters do the work of smoothing it out.

Still can do it using the CRU utility. I was able to do it on a friends using the latest beta drivers, was doing it on mine (2560x1440 on a 1920x1080) but I recently got a native 1440p monitor so I am content for now.

On another note perhaps they were wondering why you didn't put actual native 4K shots and instead re-sized them into 1080. I know when I was downsampling I just posted a ton of 2560x1440 resolution shots on my Minus page and they were quite glorious.

This is as close as I could get. Modded Skyrim pictures at 1440p. I just upgraded my PC though so maybe I could run 4k now.

Also I'm not actually using supersampling through programs like nvidia inspector. In the nvidia control panel I have set up custom resolutions of 4k and 1440p. All I have to do is select them in game. I don't have to mess around with any SSAA settings.

Yes that is the one I performed on my friends monitor, I am not sure if it matters that he was using that older AMD downsample utility before but nevertheless when he upgraded to the latest 13.10 beta drivers the CRU utility was able to restore his ability to downsample 1920x1080 to his 1600x900 monitor.

And with more fiddling around I was able to look up some CRU values and overclock his refresh rate to 75hz just for fun.
