It looks like the grooves for your hands to be comfortably sitting on.

The picture I saw looks like the grips are coming TOWARDS you rather than away

Edit: just looked at the blueprints. I was wrong.

No I'm talking about the circular grooves on the top part. They look like grooves for your hand to rest on.

You could always hold it the oposite way around with the back facing you.
