Is it a bad idea to put it on your GPU? I mean, you have to take off the current cooling. Doesn't that void the warranty?

How much difference does it actually make compared to what's on there already?

Going from the worst paste to the best is only a few degrees difference, even household condiments as was joked about above work well enough until they dry out. Proper application makes a much bigger difference.

Some GPUs (And the PS3/360) use thermal pads instead of paste but if your gpu isn't overheating you've got one or the other already.

You have to have thermal paste on cpu and gpu regardless.
