Ok maybe the person who told me Nvidia>AMD just had a personal bias. I seem to be hearing that 7950 is better in all cases.

I found one more in my budget:

Either 7950 will run faster than the 7870 I posted. As for which brand to buy the Gigabyte one you posted is an open box one that is out of stock and a new one is around 229 dollars. I think the Sapphire is the cheapest available now besides Powercolor and I haven't exactly heard good things about the reliability of Powercolor.

Thanks for pointing that out to me I didn't even notice :/ That explains the difference in price.

I think the 7870 is a good compromise, reading up on it now, seems to still be better than the 650.
