Like I said, HDD/OS aren't needed. This is for my little brother, so he won't be OCing, so I didn't get an aftermarket heatsink.

It's great, couldn't make it any more cost effective in any way.

If it's primarily for minecraft I'd go with a Haswell pentium/i3 but otherwise looks solid.
Every time I try to go where I really wanna be it's already where I am, 'cuz I'm already there

Minecraft and TF2 are both big ones, but I know that he'd like to play BF3 and JC2 and some other games in that vicinity. Anyways, not knowing where he'd like to go in the future, I'd rather have him get something pretty decent now, especially considering that it's all pretty reasonably priced.

Thanks for the advice.

If his interests are varied then the 6300 is fine, minecraft specifically isn't nearly as demanding as FTB but I had to OC my 3570k to 4.4 to get a stable 60 in that. It's only if he's (nearly) exclusively playing Minecraft/FTB that I'd recommend an i3 or even pentium over the 6300, otherwise the 6300 is great for the price.
