Recommended system requirements
The recommended PC system requirements for optimal visual quality and frame rates:
- Quad core CPU (Intel Core i5 or i7) at 3 Ghz
- 4 GB memory (8 GB for 64-bit operating systems)
- A modern DX11 graphics card with 2+ GB of video memory, GeForce 600 series or Radeon 7000 series
- Windows 7 64-bit operating system (Windows 8 is supported as well)
- 30+ GB of free harddrive space

What I have currently:
- i5-2500K (3.3Ghz) but haven't OC'd it yet.
- 8GB RAM
- HD 6870

My question is whether or not I should just grab a 7950 and sell my 6870 in preparation or just wait for the new R9 cards since the release date for Battlefield 4 is still a few weeks away.

I've also heard that some of the R9 cards are a Battlefield 4 "edition" and come with the game too? Sounds extra enticing.

Unless you plan to drop $500+ for the r9 290/x there is no reason to wait. The rest of the line is rebrands.

Yeah, no point in waiting if you only intend to spend about $250.

Newegg has this sapphire 7950 for $220http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202026

Save the Never Settle bundle voucher it comes with because Battlefield 4 is mostly going to be added soon.

Won't they be cheaper than what they're a rebrand of though?

I hope the game is included in Radeon Rewards.

Alrighty then, thanks guys.

I think I'll go for the 7950... I'm just not sure what I should do about my old card (6870). My city's version of Craigslist doesn't exactly have a market for graphics cards... and I'd really hate to leave it there sitting, collecting dust.
