Doing it for BF4, did it more than once to stay ahead of the curve back when I was raiding in WoW

I haven't taken days off for a game in a while, I want to say the last time was for Mortal Kombat (2011) when it originally came out, other then that since my days off are Mondays and Tuesdays I'm usually ok with gaming the day of release.

I did just take 8 days off but that was for a general vacation. Didn't game much.

Games and console, yes. GPU, no, though I wouldn't order it unless I knew I was going to be in all day anyway.
Thank you for saving gaming and for giving us Steam, Gabe Newell

Nope. Could probably get away with it, but start lying or making excuses to f*** off from doing work, and you're stuck in a lie...And potentially shooting the karma horse for if you ever do become deathly ill and have to take a day or two off.

Hell I was legitimately sick last week and went to work anyway. >_>

I've scheduled days off and vacations around games and consoles. I've also switched shifts and even called in sick once when Dead or Alive 4 came out unexpectedly. Luckily I already have a scheduled vacation for when PS4 comes out and I'm trying to get the next week as well for One.
Wii-Keeping doors open and papers on my desk since '06.

I thought we have SICK LEAVE for that? Which is supposed to be granted by a medical practitioner, and seperate from annual leave which is granted by the company?

Likely is entirely dependent on the company and how holidays are setup compared to "sick" days. Not every company plays loosely with using holidays or sick days at any time of the year.

And like I said, games aren't really worth getting tied up in a lie when and if something DOES come up. Maybe you're not sick, but have something urgent you have to attend to. Family emergencies, car troubles, whatever.

I'm also assuming you ARE using sick days or holidays to play games, and not just randomly not showing up for work outside of those allotted days. Because that's a good way not to have a job anymore---Then sure, you can take all the freaking days off you want.
