Every time I cold boot, I get a No Signal message even though I have HDMI hooked to the mobo. Turn it off and back on, the HD4600 kicks in and starts displaying just fine. Is there some setting I can change so it boots up with HD4600 running on first boot?

Second, it seems I've lost the ability to sleep my PC. I only have Shut Down and Restart. It isn't exactly a problem, but would still like the option of Sleep.

Using:

i5-4570S w/ HD4600
8GB RAM
Removed HD 7790
Win8

Have you checked your bios?

It might be overriding your integrated.

I checked it out, Board Explorer shows the PCIE slot as empty, so there is nothing that can override the integrated. Once I did go into BIOS and restart a few times, the problem did seem to go away though! :)

Windows 8 shutdown is basically hibernate. Just use that.
Insert generic offensive/slightly racist/holier than thou/fanboy/douchebag/elitist comment here.

This is true. Windows 8 shutdown is Logout then Hibernate.

It's a brilliant idea.
