With the new R series cards rolling out, I'm really thinking of upgrading my 560 ti for the holiday season. Though I've heard that the only noticeable upgrade would be the R290X, since the 280X is more or less a re-brand of the HD 7970. So my question is, how would I fair with an HD 7970? I'm only asking this since I'm usually the guy to go with mid - high ranged cards and the 7970's at a decent price at around 300 dollars. If it helps I only game at 1080p. As for next - gen games, Watch Dogs is really the only one that intrigues me so far.

It'll do better than game consoles will. You could expect a good 30-50% better performance than whatever those get.

Which would once again bring up the question. Would I be missing out if I went for a 7970 now?

I changed from a 560ti into a 7950 and haven't had regrets about it.
If brute force doesn't fix the problem, you're not using enough of it.

Well, the R9 290/290x and R7 260x will feature Truaudio.
