Problems I'm having:

-eyefinity settings will not save. Monitors have to be reconfigurated after ever restart
-PC boot time slowed from 10 seconds to well over a minute
-general lagginess. Mouse drag for no apparent reason at times.

Bring on the Steambox. I can no longer stand Microsoft and their terrible software.

I say do upgrade to 8.1 but make an image of your existing Windows 8 install before upgrading so you can revert. It certainly sounds like you would have benefited. I have had a couple of issues with 8.1 but my boot time is still as fast as ever and my mouse is definitely not laggy.

It's working fine on my Surface Pro as well as my desktop PC.

The only bug I can say is that it changed the on-screen keyboard for the Surface which seems to have broken the Swype-like mod I had running for it.

Did you try to figure if maybe there was a setting you missed or messed up before you ragequit Windows?
