Where is the option for just a separate SSD? Or is that what HDD is supposed to be

It's only worth it if it comes standard with a new laptop (and a lot of companies are doing this)

Unfortunately, they're 5400 rpm Seagates. Nobody wants to make 2.5" 7200 rpm SSHD anymore and the Momentus XT is showing its age.

Yeah i'm pretty sure he's saying are we at the point where HSSD's should completely replace HHD's. I say no only because HSSD's haven't gotten to the storage capacity that HDD's are at now, and are still significantly slower than pure SSD's. I have a hybrid drive in my laptop right now, and it is a cool piece of equipment, but it's not winning any awards. If it wasn't on sale at the time i wouldn't even bother.

I'm just waiting for the NGFF/M.2 interface to take off

Some newer Lenovo laptops have it and is faster than mSATA
