Have a 2GB GTX 680 and a 1440p monitor. Better to wait for the 8XX series?

Based on what the new 7 series cards are bringing, I'm sure the 880 on up should be a lot better than them. Better to wait until then? The 680 isn't giving me much problem now, but that 2GB is kinda killing me in some games. I don't game often, but when I do, I want to game comfortably. What do you guys think?

Are your a graphics wh***?
Do you have spare cash to spend?
Are you impatient?

You can always wait but don't expect anything magical to happen from 700 to 800.

I don't get it. Am I not allowed to enjoy a game at 60fps with ultra graphics or what? My GTX 680 can't do that with some games like Metro and FC3

It sounds like you want to upgrade now so go ahead and do so if you have the funds to do it.

Just wait until gtx 880 especially if you don't game often. There are plenty of games you should be able to run good at 1440p on high settings with your 680. Just look at benchmarks. Always being able to play the latest high demanding games at 1440p and 60fps is not possible with just 1 card.

I wish I had that kind of money when I was at school. Most people tend to be incredibly poor in college.

8XX cards aren't coming out until Q2 of next year at the earliest as that is when 22nm production will become available. Nvidia isn't the first company in line though, so probably looking at a late summer/ early fall release realistically.

If you can wait that long, go ahead. I'm sure the cards are gonna be massively powerful.

I'm personally picking up a 780Ti this week if I can get my hands on one.
