When I built my rig everyone here was saying that 4 gb is all I would need. Not that I have any interest in playing Ghosts, but with games like watch dogs also having a high ram requirement I feel like I am running a peasant system over here and current RAM prices make me feel like I'm upgrading through apple.

Thanks PCH.

Every single amount of RAM has been called overkill.

Never listen to people when they say X amount of RAM is way more than enough. Maybe at that moment, but you're always going to need more in the future.

Post names of those who said 4GB was sufficient so that we may shame them publicly.

But that would require him to ignore your advice.

I upgraded to 16 GB's earlier in March this year. I'm actually really glad I did now.

and you can just buy another 4gb ram, really easy. RAM is the easiest part to upgrade.

Whoever told you that 4GB of RAM would suffice for everything really shouldn't be taken seriously on this board. In fact, that sounds so asinine that they were probably just trolling. Sucks for you man.

Ehhh, there's a line there.

"Futureproofing" is a dumb concept, and if the person building their computer is buying stuff that they might need down the road... they're likely wasting a lot of money, and will still end up with an inferior product in the future.

I personally think you should listen to people when they say X is more than enough, and then upgrade your machine when X is no longer enough.
