Should I just upgrade to Windows 8 and get it over with?

I'm currently running Windows 7 64-bit. I'm assuming at some point most games are going to be optimized for Windows 8 and I'm going to end up switching anyways.

What are the pros and cons vs. Windows 7?

I'm not some Windows 7 elitist who refuses switch but I don't want to spend the time right now if it's in my best interests.

I have win 8 and not by choice. It came with my Laptop. I'd say wait another year maybe 2 till MS gets it fixed up more.

Still has a lot of issues.

There's no reason to upgrade to it from Windows 7.
If you were building a new PC I'd say you may as well go with 8.1, but it would just be a waste of money to upgrade to it for no reason.

You have to remember that most games still don't even use DX11, so I wouldn't even worry about DX 11.1/11.2 not working on 7.

I would say the reports of scattered compatibility/driver etc. issues with current games far outweigh a few titles years down the road maybe being optimized for Windows 8/DX 11.1 etc. I would honestly wait for Windows 8.2 or Service Pack 1/2 or whatever Microsoft will call the next major update.
