Because witcher 1's gameplay is really grating on me, as is a lot of the cheesy design. Is it worth forcing my way through, or is it pretty crappy all around?

I tried twice on the first game, couldn't do it. Loved the second though.

I didn't like the Witcher 1, but I enjoyed the Witcher 2 a lot.

I love both games, but Witcher 2 has better combat, although the first game had good combat too. The first game is more varied though with the places you can go to and the quests.

The combat/player control grew on me. I like it more than The Witcher 2's (still haven't completed...).

The game got pretty interesting towards the end. The first two chapters are hell. Even most people who like the game agree.

I think I'll just keep it on the backburner, and sling an hour into it when I can stomach doing so. I wanna see where it goes.

If you can manage your way through the first two Acts in Witcher 1, then the rest of the game will be like 40 hours of awesome. It really felt like CD Projekt was learning how to make a game as they were going through it.

The combat in the first game became tolerable the more I played it. I wouldn't say it's fantastic or even good, but it's workable. I definitely hated it at first, though. The second game made it far more interactive and challenging.

Don't do any side missions and just power through the main quests here and there until you either like it or hate it.
