My pc uses an adapter to pick up wifi signals. It is terribly slow and takes hours to download any game. Can I buy anything to improve the connection?

Connecting an ether net is not an option.

What kind of service package are you paying your ISP for? What kind of speeds are you actually getting on your machine? What kind of speeds are you getting on machines closer to the router?

Go to www.speedtest.net and run the test on your machine to measure your download and upload, then post the results here.
can u even count 30 in 1 second? no, u can't. so u can't tell difference between 30fps and 60fps. stupid. -Shinobier-

I'll do that when I get home and post it. I also have Fios.

A better router or a repeater will probably help considering you have Fios now you should also check to make sure that there aren't a metric f***ton of wifi signals floating around (apartments are bad about this). Now you could buy a new router or you could install something called DD-WRT if it's available for your router it'll improve the firmware and solves many problems with the stock firmware of many routers.
