This and when it's able to compete £/GB. Although even then HDDs may still have a place depending on the circumstances and the type of memory.

The only other alternative is the internet, but considering the nature of the internet I doubt this will happen for a long time, if at all (for example, look at Megaupload or Hotfile).
Asus P8Z77-V Pro, Intel i7 3770K 3.5Ghz, 8GB RAM, Ati Radeon 5770 1GB, CM 690 II. Win7 x64.

I have a 4 tb drive right now. By the time 4 tb ssd drives are in a decent price range I'll want a 10 tb drive.

So, maybe in 20 years or so.

At some point in time they'll be phased out, but I don't see it happening anytime in the near future.

Why do you need so much space?

As programming gets more complicated, it takes more and more space to hold these programs.

Back in the 80's you could fit damn near every program on a single 170K floppy (single sided, single density), hell you could fit more than one program on a floppy. Then suddenly you needed both sides...then High density (or maybe I got that backwards, maybe High density and THEN both sides). Then multiple floppies... then they made floppies smaller and able to hold more, and then hard drives came out with unbelievable 10 Megabytes of storage (what the hell do we need all that space for?)

It's progress...that's what we need the space for... Progress.

Well it's true that porn is tied to advances in technology.

If there's a new technology out there that can be used for something, Porn will use it first.

When we get virtual reality in every home, what do you think the first real use will be? Porn.

When we get robots? Porn...

Flying cars? Flown by robots so we can watch porn on the way to work.

It's inevitable
