I'm in the same spot as you man, my friend literally 300ft down the street has FiOS, but where I live only Comcast is available, and god is their service expensive and terrible.

FiOS is one of those things that is unlikely to change because they have no incentive to expand, plus ISP's are like drug dealers... everyone has their territory and they make deals with each other to stay out of their territory (or at least not seriously undercut them in prices) so you're stuck because they WANT you to be stuck.

Google is the only one trying to push for fiber expansion and they're going slowly and picking areas that probably need high speed more than you do (if you live in a major metropolitan area).

This 100%, I thought this kinda stuff was illegal. I guess as long as the Government gets their cut it doesn't matter to them what illegal activities goes on between giant corporations and screws over the people.

I think Verizon said they were done with expanding FiOS a few years ago.
If you believe in Cthulhu and are 100% proud, put this in your sig.

Try being in an area where the only option is a 3g aircard lol. The internet situation where I live makes me freakin suicidal. I have to use my phone data for it to even be usable, then I have to pay overages. I would Burn a small village to the ground for crappy DSL.

If you're looking for an alternative to Comcast in the SF Bay Area, you can check out Astound. I usually switch back and froth between the two to get the specials.
