It's positive for the industry, because it allows gamers to "try" before they "buy" and avoid crappy overhyped games.

It's negative for the industry, because it forces developers to adopt draconian DRM and punish legit consumers.

So, you're here. Wow. Now I'm nervous. Performance anxiety and all that. I'm drawing a blank here. I swear: the never happens. Just give me a moment.

...

...

...

...You still here? Good. I think I can get it up now. Something! Something! I meant to say "something."

Er--*ahem*

Still here?

We're good now, right? All the really impatient folks who want to maintain a facade of responsible forum-going have given up on this by now, surely. So we're alone. Just you... and me... and what's this? A used condiment pack? What, you thought I'd say something else? Yeesh. Get your mind out of the gutter you filthy, filthy (but also slightly sexy )pervert.

Okay, okay, okay.

Right.

Okay.

Jokes aside. I am setting them aside. That part of this post is over now. Are we ready to move on? We are? Good. I know: this is all very meta. Here's the real poll question: do the inconsistent naming conventions on Steam bug the living hell out of you? 'Cause they sure as hell but the living hell out of me. Basically, if you don't already get what I'm talking about, it means that games in the same series aren't arranged properly in the games list. For example, the Assassin's Creed series is arranged with AC3 at the top, followed by AC1, then Brotherhood, then AC2, then AC4, and lastly ACR, instead of being in proper consecutive order. ACR also has one of those weird (R) circly symbols in the title--which NONE OF THE OTHER GAMES HAVE.

Goddammit.

I'm getting seriously pissed off just writing it.
Far Cry 3 has a funky little (R) thing, too.

And it's even worse with multiple games in a series with different names. For example, Legacy of Kain Defiance is listed BEFORE the two Soul Reaver games; the Prince of Persia games are in God-knows what order; and standalone expansions are typically listed AFTER sequels. For the love of God, why does Steam have such a raging boner for not letting us rename the games in our library? Yeah: **** you, too, Valve. Use poll options #6, #7, and #8 only to respond. And you can stop reading after the next sentence.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

And yes, you really did read all of THAT just for this. But before you get all irked up and perturbed, remember this: I didn't make you read it, and reading is like any other skill--you need to practice, practice, practice to maintain a degree of excellence. So, really, you should be thanking me.

Typically I'd read at least part of the post to see if it was relevant to the poll or if it could skew the outcome of my vote.

But in this case there was a landslide of text below the poll and I clicked a random option without reading the post, nor the thing I voted for.

You're wrong, Sherlock. I don't drink. It was Tramadol.
