It's not a real RPG, mainly due to how the combat works.

Combat has little to no impact on whether a game is an RPG or not. The combat mechanics tend to have to do with technical limitations at the time of a video games creation.

I'm beginning to get stick of the acronym "RPG" because the true definition is "Role playing" which goes back to actual pen and paper, dice rolling dungeon crawlers, which NO JRPG or WRPG on consoles or PC's are.

If anything, Skyrim is an adventure. RPG's don't mean stats, equipment etc. They shouldn't and never should have.

JRPG's aren't role playing games either, they are adventure games with a turn based battle system.
