looking for a good rts game that isnt warcraft or starcraft..i have those. it doesnt have to be brand new. id like something that uses "real" countries.

i played one years ago that had you start in the stone age and move up...but it wasnt age of empires. cant remember the name of it though.

I think you're thinking of Grand Strategy or 4X games. Not the same as RTS games.

Also you're probably thinking Sid Meier's Civilization series.

Supreme Commander Forged Alliance
Warhammer Dawn of War + expansions
Command & Conquer Generals: Zero Hour
Conquest: Frontier Wars
Age of Mythology
Sacrifice

You were likely either thinking of Rise of Nations or Empire Earth - both are also quite good.

Sorry - missed the "real countries" bit. In that case, what about the Total War games?

Possibly Rise of Nations?

Figured. heh Empire Earth also starts in the stone age and takes you through like 15 eras to the future (lasers and mechs). Quite a good game IMO.

And if you can let go of the "real nations" preference, each of the other games I listed are excellent.

Homeworld / Homeworld 2.

Awesome series, definitely worth a play through if you can track them down. Also, for as old as Homeworld 2 is, it is still gorgeous.
