Is FF8 a good game if I'm not into Final Fantasy anymore?

It's a fun game and the soundtrack is one of Uematsu's best works. The story has some pretty bad plot holes, which is a shame since the setting for it is actually pretty interesting.

I really love the setting of 8, definitely its strongest point.
Every time I try to go where I really wanna be it's already where I am, 'cuz I'm already there

It sounds like you want neither the combat nor the story. IDK why you'd care for the RPG.
FF8 has an abilitiy to stop random battles, which can be obtained after some grinding 2 hours into the game.
IDK about this new version, but there's a save editor available that works with the old PCv and PSX saves too.

8 is in my top 5 FF games personally. Drawing magic never bothered me, and I loved the card game.

Yeah the story is disjointed and the dialogue is bad at points. To me it is fun to look at the story and dialogue and laugh.

I really liked 8. 9 too. It is 10 where I started to question where the series was going, and 12 where I lost interest.

To be fair, 8 does have its issues, but it also has all the good (and the bad) of old school Japanese RPGs. Still infinitely better than the newer FF's.

The game mechanics for combat suck, if you can get over that the rest of the game is decent.

The first disc of FF8 was one of best FF experiences ever.

The problem is that afterwards it falls off a lot.

I like the FF8 system. Between enemies leveling up with you and junctions, you can make the game as easy or hard as you'd like.
Why is it that he can hit a 3rd baseman on a frozen rope from 300 feet away, but he can't hit a 12 foot tall catcher from 60 feet 6 inches away?

The gameplay is terrible, the story is terrible.

I hate FF, And the only ones I liked are 13 and 8.

You're either a troll or have the worst video game taste I have ever personally seen.

Knights of Xentar, thats a game I haven't heard of in a while. I think I played it on MS-DOS back when I was in 9th or 10th grade. Thankfually, my Parents never knew I had it.
