This. If you can build your own computer (it's not hard), you can build a decent entry level gaming computer for 400- 500 dollars that will play any game out, and for 600 - 650 you can build a computer that will easily out perform the "next gen" consoles. It really doesn't take that much to get into PC gaming, instead of "upgrading" by going to Walmart and buying a 500 dollar prebuilt, just build your own and get 50 times the power

That should be fine for older or simpler 3D games, and pretty much anything 2D.
