I've been on a science fiction/space kick lately, and I wanted to know of some great games, preferable first person shooter or third person, that are set either on the moon, or some other planet, like Mars or something. Could be any genre, like horror, action, adventure, etc, but preferably more recent and modern games, not older.

The Red Faction games come to mind, with the most recent being 'Guerilla' and 'Armageddon'. If you have a PS2/3 then you should also check out the Ratchet & Clank games, they are more cartoonish and fun but Sci-fi is definitely a big part of them.

This keeps popping up on steam.

Then there's always Kerbal Space Program. Or FTL? Sorry for the bland suggestions.

Dead Space trilogy is pretty solid. 3 was kind of a letdown but I knew it would be, I didn't want Dead Space 3, I wanted Dead Space 2 2.

1 takes place entirely on a giant mining ship aside from the opening and closing cutscenes (where you're in a small cruiser kinda thing), 2 takes place on a space station built into Saturn's moon. You also go into a cave in the moon for one sequence. 3 starts off on Earth (I think) for like 5 minutes, a short ship sequence, an open space sequence, some more ship stuff (abandoned ships in orbit on an alien planet) then you go to the planet and scifi stuff happens. I think the DLC episode takes place on a ship after you get off the planet again.
Every time I try to go where I really wanna be it's already where I am, 'cuz I'm already there

To The Moon is about the moon. But you won't care about the moon as much as the plot.
