I certainly hope not - don't wanna mess with troubleshooting and replacing parts or helping buy a new PC...

No, only 3-4 years old. It came pre-loaded with XP and a Win 7 install disk for "upgrade". Just never "upgraded".

Even if you do wish to upgrade, it might be a good idea to discount any possibility of hardware malfunctions.

And if only he had clicked on one of those "your computer has a virus, click here to do a free scan and get it removed" ads. All of this would have been avoided.
