This will be my first one, I'm thinking a 250gb should be good for my needs. I know next to nothing about them. No budget, just got my tax refund so money is not an issue. Thanks in advance.

The Samsung 840 Pros are solid. Crucial M4 has also been quite popular.

Do you need a significantly fast write speed or are you more interested in read speed?

Since you have no budget; you might as well go 840 Pro. If you had a budget; the Crucial M500's are good but are slower in the write speeds. It's quite a bit cheaper too.

Yes, get an 840 EVO. It's not really worth the extra cost to get an 840 Pro.
