Personally I try to go for every five years, with one GPU upgrade in between builds.

2 years for a gpu upgrade and cpu upgrade. I was addicted to getting the best performance out of pcsx2 and dolphin at 1440p for a bit which explains the cpu upgrade situation...

I built my PC in 2007. I did a major upgrade in 2013, replacing its CPU/mobo/RAM. So in a way, I built a new PC and in a way I didn't and I'm using a nearly 7 year old computer now.

Motherboard is 6 years old. Everything else has been replaced at some point. Just need an SSD and I am happy. I dont need new and latest to play games.

Taking the topic literally, I build a new machine every month to a month and a half for clients. For personal usage, every 4-5 years, give or take. None of the games I play are particularly taxing outside of RAM requirements for multiboxing.

Yeah that counts as a new build.
