I'd say Zelda.

Only if Zelda was an RPG

Temple of Apshai

Temple of Apshai is considered one of the first graphical role-playing games for home computers,[1] predating even the commercial release of Richard Garriott's Akalabeth: World of Doom.

Wow, I can't believe people are talking about these games without my knowledge.

I mean, if I, the undisputed master of RPGs, had never brought my special brand of enlightenment to this board, nobody would even know what these games are. Have any of you ever even installed the Quantify OVERHAUL for Ultima by fishboys356? I thought not.

Unless your favorite version of Rogue is the one where you need a braille printer and you play it in the dark, get out of this topic. Now.

Haven't played any of the three's original / early games. Mostly hear of the next tier of games ultima online / FF1 / Diablo (played ff1/d1).

My vote would be Rogue. I usually hear / read "This game is very Rogue-like" and such. Not always, but it's a more frequent reference than the others. Unlike FF where I rarely hear FF being linked to wizardry. Unless you look up the series' history and how it all began :)
You're the hero Gamefaqs deserves, but not the one it needs right now.

MyDogSkip, keep barking, my friend. You know nothing of RPGs and your boorish demeanor confirms it.
