Oh man.. I almost responded to ningishzida but then i saw his name.

JRPG is a meaningless term. Its not for PC but look into Xenoblade Chronicles

Dark Souls is a western-style action RPG that just happens to be made by Japanese devs. Please stop deluding yourself with a feeling of adequacy, it's undeserved.

Xenoblade Chronicles

I don't know if your friend is interested in Monster Hunter or Monster Hunter Clones but I would like to recommend him Monster Hunter games and God Eater Burst and Freedom Wars if he can wait for December 31

That's why the term jrpg really needs to die.
"JRPGs are all turned based and grind simulators"
"But what about game: the gaming, game XIII, and GAME?"
"Well I can't have you proving me wrong, so I won't classify them as JRPGs."

I know it's not in the RPG genre but I find the sword swingings of Those games similar to Skyrim

Does it have to be PC? If he has a PS2, Kingdom Hearts I and II.
If you are Amish and are 100% proud of it, put this in your signature.
