Get an aftermarket cooler and overclock your CPU to around 4.4GHz-4.6GHz. FX CPUs are designed to be overclocked.

Not really. Dat high tdp and all. They're designed to be MOAR MHZ and MOAR COREZ over better performance.

Have an aftermarket cooler just can't push it any higher because of my crappy mobo.

Yeah really. I've got my 8350 running at 4.8GHz and it beats i5 4670k/3570k in single threaded cinibench and the i5 doesn't even compare in multithread. Not to mention it went that high with barely any effort.

And you paid for it in the motherboard, and continue to in your power bill.

I re used the motherboard I already had. All I needed was a free bios flash to run this CPU. Which I only paid $180 for the CPU. Also oh nos I pay an extra $50 a year if that.

AMD's CPU's don't even have 8 cores. They have a really screwy architecture where half the cores are just integer units.
